Massachusetts Major City Chiefs of Police Endorse Gov. Baker

October 14, 2018 by Jessica Sacco

The following is a message from Chelsea Police Chief Brian Kyes, President of the Massachusetts Major City Chiefs of Police Association, Inc., which was sent to Gov. Charlie Baker and Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito:

“On behalf of the entire membership of the Massachusetts Major City Chiefs of Police Association (MMCC), comprised of the 39 largest police departments in the state, we would like to take this opportunity to respectfully inform you that our professional police chief’s organization has made the unanimous decision to endorse the “Baker/Polito Ticket” for 2019-2022 for Governor and Lieutenant Governor for this great Commonwealth.

“We had a vote on a duly made motion that was presented this past Tuesday at our monthly MMCC Meeting at the BYN Mellon in Everett that passed unanimously by all of our members that were present. It is important to note that our organization has never endorsed any candidates for political office in the 15 years that we have been in existence.

“All the men and women of our organization collectively agree that your administration has been doing an outstanding job over the past four years, specifically as it pertains to enhancing public safety in our cities and towns and taking an exceptional leadership role in addressing the opioid epidemic in our state. We are also incredibly appreciative for your unyielding support in signing the much needed Police Training Bill – House Bill 4516 (“An Act relative to the Municipal Police Training Fund”) – into Law on July 25.

“We are definitely looking forward to working together with the entire administration over the next four years to do everything that we possibly can to enhance public safety for all of our residents in this great Commonwealth with your valued leadership, guidance and support.”
