Voting Membership Qualifications:

Pursuant to Article 2.1 of the By-Laws of the Massachusetts Major City Chief, Inc., “[t]he members of the Massachusetts Major City Chiefs of Police Association shall consist of the Police Chief, Police Commissioner or Superintendent of Police of a municipal subdivision of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or the Colonel of the Massachusetts State Police or Chief of the MBTA Transit Police in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with a service population of not less than 40,000 residents and/or an authorized strength of at least seventy five (75) sworn police officers at the time of the initial application; provided that each such person shall submit a written request to the corporation to become a member and such person shall possess a minimum requirement of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Members who meet the foregoing requirements upon acceptance by the Executive Board shall be deemed voting members.

Associate Non-Voting Membership Qualifications:

Associate, non-voting members of the Massachusetts Major City Chiefs, Inc. may include, upon written request to the Executive Board any Retired Voting Member of the Massachusetts Major City Police Chiefs Association, a representative of: the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; the Office of the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; the United States Attorney's Office; not more than three (3) academic representatives; the Special Agent in Charge of any Federal Law Enforcement Agency, not more than two (2) designees of any voting member’s department with the rank of Captain or above and the Chief of Police of a municipal subdivision that does not meet all the requirements of the voting membership criteria as outlined above. Associate Members shall be required to pay annual dues in the amount of $200 each calendar year.

To retain membership, each voting member shall pay annual dues to the Massachusetts Major City Chiefs, Inc. in the amount set by resolution of the members at its annual meeting (See below). The President may expel members whose dues remain more than thirty (30) days past due upon written notice to such members.

The President shall admit to membership new voting and non-voting members, as the case may be, upon receipt of the application and documentation evidencing compliance with the membership requirements set forth in this section
