During a sudden downpour that flooded parts of Braintree on July 10th, a local police officer became a lifeline for a stranded veteran whose car was trapped in rising waters.

As reported by 7News WHDH Boston (original story here), the officer responded quickly to reports of vehicles submerged near Granite Street. One of those vehicles held an elderly man, later identified as a military veteran, who was unable to open his door against the force of the water.

Body camera footage shows the officer wading through waist-deep water, reassuring the man, and ultimately pulling him to safety. “I got you,” the officer is heard saying, before guiding the veteran out of the vehicle and leading him to dry ground.

The quick-thinking and bravery of this officer not only prevented what could have been a tragic outcome, but also served as a powerful reminder of the dedication that law enforcement officers bring to their communities every day.

According to WHDH, the veteran was uninjured and deeply grateful for the assistance. The moment, caught on camera, has since circulated widely—symbolizing the kind of compassionate policing that builds trust and saves lives.
